Knockout Kings – Earnie Shavers
The ‘Black Destroyer’ was ranked at 10 in The Ring Magazine’s ’100 Greatest Punchers of all time’ and it’s not hard to see why. Shavers was a heavy-handed stalker and after rattling Muhammad Ali, Ali would state Shavers hit him so hard “it shook my kinfolk back in Africa”.
Finishing his career in 1995, of his 74 wins 68 came by knockout, an indication of how hard this heavyweight hit.
