Amir Khan blew away Dimitry Salita in 76 seconds last night in the first defence of his WBA junior welterweight title. Khan’s hand speed was too much for the American based Ukrainian and he was down after just 10 seconds, after Khan landed a right hand straight to Salita’s chin.

Khan sensing blood went for the kill and dropped Salita two more times before referee Luis Pabon called off the bout.

After the fight Khan, who turns 23 in 2 days, admitted he is contemplating a move to America to finally make his debut stateside, an idea that was met with endorsement by trainer Freddie Roach and promoter Frank Warren.

The victory is a massive reversal for Khan who was knocked out by Breidis Prescott in devestating fashion 15 months ago. Khan, now under the tutilage of Freddie Roach, has rebuilt his career and will be looking to raise his profile in the world of boxing with high profile fights in 2010.
